The McLaren TAG MP4/3, driven by Alain Prost during the 1987 Formula 1 season, evolved the highly successful MP4 series that Steve Nichols and Gordon Murray designed. Powered by the Porsche-built TAG turbocharged V6 engine, the MP4/3 featured advancements in aerodynamics and chassis refinement, though it struggled to match the pace of its rivals, particularly Williams. Prost secured three victories one of them in Belgium at Spa and several podiums, finishing fourth in the Drivers' Championship, while McLaren placed second in the Constructors' standings. The MP4/3 marked the end of McLaren's TAG engine era, transitioning to Honda power in 1988.
